 The famous Bergen-Belsen Monument

Replica of the huge wooden Cross erected by Polish inmates in 1945

I startled this fella near the SS swimming pool, but he regained his composure,
turned and began to hop-off by the time I got my camera switched on and focused.

The three picture below were taken by some individual graves marked on the above map

I took this photo facing north-east

Then turned 180 degrees and took this facing south-west

The Camp's Main Street

"The camp's main street, a six-metre-wide sand track, was built in 1941 during the expansion of the POW camp. It ran for more than a kilometre from the main entrance near the road to the last huts on the opposite side of the camp. ..."

The Special & Hungarian Camps

The old road between the Special Camp (left) and the Hungarian Camp (right)

The Special Camp, which was a camp for mostly Polish Jews, who the Nazis exchanged for German Prisoners of War held by the British, was immediately next to the Hungarian Camp, which was used for the same purpose, but held Jews from Hungary. The foundations of the barracks in these two camps are still there today, Hut 9 (Special Camp) and Hut 10 (Hungarian Camp).
