The Zionist Symbology

I spotted five separate gravestones with this broken tree symbol at Bergen-Belsen. None of which appeared to be particularly old, certainly not as old as the date the person they commemorate died i.e. 1945 or earlier.
But I immediately recognised the symbology of the broken tree.
"Whole branches of Judaism may wither and fall, but the trunk will remain."

Wrote the "Father of Zionism" Thedore Herzl in his 1897 "book" A Jewish State. Which in reality was a 65 page proposal he wrote to the Rothschild banking dynasty, and which was only later published as a "book."

I took this photo at the Sachsenhausen camp, just two days after my trip to Bergen-Belsen. The broken tree is close to the gate house.
